ANSYS 2019 R1

Megatrends like 5G, autonomous vehicles and electrification are radically changing the product development landscape – making it difficult for companies to keep pace with ever-tightening budgets and timelines.

ANSYS 2019 R1 delivers the speed, agility and accessibility that engineers — at all levels of expertise —can leverage to develop and deliver next-generation products. With greater ease of use and new functionalities throughout the ANSYS software portfolio, this latest release allows more engineers to harness the power of ANSYS’ Pervasive Engineering Simulation solutions.

From a revolutionary user experience in ANSYS Fluent to the super-accurate additive manufacturing solutions and groundbreaking capabilities in the new ANSYS Motion product line, ANSYS 2019 R1 maximizes productivity across a multitude of industries. Companies can confidently make critical product decisions, push the boundaries of innovation and accelerate time to market — without sacrificing quality.

3D Design

ANSYS Discovery’s upfront analysis and design exploration capabilities are more accessible than ever. Improvements let you generate accurate simulation results faster, while minimizing the cost and time of innovation. In ANSYS Discovery Live, topology optimization offers interactive real-time shape optimization for any 3D design. Take concepts and ideas to a new level by drastically reducing weight while retaining strength in an automated and tightly integrated environment.

A new random vibration analysis capability in ANSYS Discovery AIM assesses the likelihood that a design will exceed a vibrational limit. Specify a base excitation power spectral density and the software determines the statistical structural response to random loading.

New features in ANSYS Discovery SpaceClaim make it possible to parametrically control and replay the creation of complex geometry. Added sketch constraints allow full definition and constraint of sketches.

Additive Manufacturing

ANSYS Additive Print now allows you to upload supports generated by other software tools and adds two new materials, Ti64 and Al357, to widen the range of supported materials. Enhancements to the voxelization technology mean that more detailed geometry features can be captured without having to unnecessarily reduce the grid size.

The meshing technology in workbench additive has been significantly improved. Layered tetrahedral elements mean that fine features can be more readily captured for increased accuracy with reasonable model sizes. Control of analysis steps and the provision for a heat treatment step have also been added.

Additive science, newly released, delivers tools to explore process details to help understand how changes to machine parameters affect meltpool sizes and material porosity.

Electromagnetics

Experience new simulation capabilities for the design of 5G, autonomous and electrification technology. New features available in ANSYS 2019 R1 provide unprecedented design insight as they speed your time to market. Features include design rule check for electromagnetic interference of printed circuit boards (PCBs); electromigration analysis; advanced closed-loop electromagnetic-thermal coupling; noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) analysis methodology; and advanced features for the design of automotive radar.

  • EMI Scanner in ANSYS HFSS and ANSYS SIwave enables design rule checking to identify potential EMI issues in a design prior to full simulation.
  • ANSYS SIwave electromigration analysis predicts mean time-to-failure for on-chip and electronic package structures.
  • Two-way electromagnetic-thermal coupling is available between ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS Maxwell and ANSYS Q3D Extractor with ANSYS Icepak for electronics reliability studies.
  • Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) analysis in ANSYS Maxwell delivers superior accuracy in less time than existing design flows available in the market.
  • ANSYS HFSS SBR+ includes antenna blockage and a user-defined transmission/reflection boundary to analyze automotive radar-fascia interaction in autonomous vehicles.

Embedded Software

ANSYS 2019 R1 introduces new and enhanced capabilities for the automotive domain, including autonomous vehicles, multicore code generation and new testing capabilities. These capabilities provide workflows and features that allow you to design and deliver safety-critical products faster, with less engineering effort, reduced cost and faster time to certification.

Enhancements to ANSYS SCADE Suite for automotive applications make it simpler and faster to comply with industry standards like AUTOSAR when developing model-based systems and software for the automotive domain, including autonomous vehicles.

SCADE Suite now supports development flows for safety-critical software applications that target parallel execution on various multicore chips, including Kalray MPPA and Infineon’s latest generation AURIX.

SCADE Test Model Coverage is the only tool on the market that allows you to perform a single activity to achieve both model and code coverage for embedded software applications. It fulfils DO-178C/DO-331 guidelines in an efficient way while focusing on error finding.

Fluids

ANSYS 2019 R1 introduces the new Fluent experience. Along with a new look and task-based workflows, you will appreciate the enhanced speed and simplicity of this single-window way to run computational fluid dynamics simulations in ANSYS Fluent.

GEKO lets you control turbulence. This revolutionary concept allows you to tailor turbulence models to their applications. GEKO provides free and tunable parameters that can be adjusted over a wide range, to match the simulation to specific physical effects while maintaining the underlying calibration.

Finally, you can now easily leverage cloud computing to speed your simulations by submitting jobs directly from their Fluent desktop.

Optical

ANSYS SPEOS strengthens predictive design capabilities to help you create, test and validate a virtual design in a fast iteration loop. The extended human vision simulation is now improved with the refined human eye model.

The enhanced user experience of ANSYS SPEOS allows you to:

  • Achieve your perceived quality objective automatically thanks to a new generic optimization engine perfectly adapted to any advanced optical system.
  • Reinforce your expertise regarding the revolution of intelligent lighting in automotive applications with the advanced mode for sharp cut-off. This ensures that you are in compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Expand your vision with head-up display (HUD): The ANSYS SPEOS HUD Design and Analysis add-on brings cutting edge features specifically dedicated to the development of head-up displays in automotive applications. By embedding optical knowledge, this add-on drastically improves the development process by anticipating issues early in the development stage.

Structures

Impressive performance just got even faster with ANSYS Mechanical’s ability to run models with large contact areas up to 2X faster. If you need access to more compute power, a new cloud solve capability is available to provide extra resources when needed.

The powerful and easy-to-use topology optimization feature, which maximizes material efficiency, now includes thermal objectives and works with shell geometries.

Waterfall diagrams enable insightful post-processing of acoustics simulations, which is especially useful in models of electric motors.

ANSYS Motion, a new offering in ANSYS 2019 R1, is a next-generation engineering solution based on flexible multibody dynamics. It enables fast and accurate analysis of rigid and flexible bodies within a single solver. A series of toolkits extends its functionality to enable you to investigate the behaviour of a vehicle’s powertrain design, including gears and bearings, and systems incorporating chains, belts and continuous tracks.

Systems
